On the morning of the 25th of February, I was distraught and disheveled when I witnessed a heinous message spray-painted on the steps of the Riverton Memorial Arena. The message read out, “Pay Your Crack Debt Brad.” I was severely disappointed that someone would have the audacity and nerve to disrespect such a valuable location. The RMA means a lot to the town and its supporting peoples.

This isn’t just a shot at whoever “Brad” is. This is an attack on the peace of Riverton. People find themselves, they find hope, and they find a purpose at the RMA. And to write such a blasphemous statement exposes the youth to profane language. It is a disgrace to the pride and the deep roots Riverton was built on.
Riverton is more than just a town, it’s a community that stands together. The RMA is a symbol of that unity, a place where memories are made, where kids grow up playing hockey, where families gather, and where we all share in something bigger than ourselves. To deface it in such a vile and thoughtless way is an insult to every person who calls this place home. This is not who we are. This town deserves better, and I sincerely hope that those responsible are held accountable, not just for the vandalism, but for the disrespect they’ve shown to every proud citizen of Riverton.
